Help with puppy chewing problem
  • Hi,
My puppy Mika likes to chew on the couch and coffee table, etc and she likes to grab pant legs and pull on them. How can I stop these behaviors? Thanks.

shiba life...we got brewster off furniture but now he has a taste for human
  • redirect him to his chew toy immediately, don't yell at her. Always keep a close eye on her when youre able. When you're not home put her in her crate.

We have a 10wk female and IMO what Kipthekipster said is exactly what you have to do. If you want a dog that doesn't chew up your stuff, then you have to be serious about putting in the time to make that dog. I've accepted that to build the dog that I demand, the one that I expect, I have to put my free time on hold in order to make that happen. They are just like children and you don't make a good child by simply expecting them to be good kids, you have to put in the time.

Also, get some bitter apple, but don't use it as your excuse to not put in the time. Think of it as a helper and nothing more.

@andynov123 - Please do not forget to use the search function on the forum to look for the answers to your questions before you start a new thread.

There have been several threads about puppy chewing in the past.

What you need to do is click on "Advanced Search" at the top of the forum. Then type in "Chewing" in the search box. It pulls up several relevant threads.

If the answer to your specific question is not listed in those threads, feel free to pick the one that is closest to your problem and add to it.

This keeps the forum a little neater and allows other members to easily search for answers to their questions.
