I found this test while reading the book "Through a Dog's Eyes" by jennifer Arnold. It's an interesting test if you want to know your shiba's personality. Saku is a defender and Mina is a companion according to the test! :)
This is what it said about my dog and this is how my dog acts.
Your Canine Behavior Type Index is SAH - Rebel Your dog is a Spontaneous, Alpha and High Activity type which we call the Rebel. The Rebel is a High (H) energy, full blooded dog with presence and attitude. Its focus is narrow, strong, and often not on its owner. Aimless, free activity suits the Rebel. It loves to go jogging, have a wander and sniff about.
I think this test is more accurate. It assesses your dog's personality in three categories: assertivenss, sociability and versatility.
There are 4 major personality and the test will tell you your dog's primary and seconardy personalities.
1. Analytical -not very social or assertive - have serious facial expressions, often with a furrowed brow - slow, precise, and methodical, as they do not like to make mistakes - Prefer to keep touching to a minimum - Do not like to take risks
2. Drivers - highly assertive but not very social - Often appear to be leaning forward even when standing still - Tightly controlled and driven to succeed - do not like physical contact - Willing to take risks when the payoff is substantial
3. Amiables -Highly social but not very assertive - Warm and friendly -forgiving and easygoing -enjoy physical contact -do not like to take risks -like to concentrate on one thing at a time-usually smelling the roses
4. Expressives -highly assertive and highly social -like to be the center of attention -creative, charismatic, and funny -impaitent and informal -enjoy physical contact -willing to take risks
Saku is Expressive expressive and with versatility scale of maximum 28. MIna is Analytical analytical with versatility scale of 8
My two shibas are at extreme ends! No wonder their relationship is..what I describe a "love and hate relationship"! :)
Mikko is a dreamer. Which means: " Your dog is a Spontaneous, Beta and Medium Activity type which we call the Dreamer. The Dreamer is disorganised, socially and mentally. It lacks the energy to assert an active social challenge but may challenge a very easy going owner or dog over some prized resource such as the couch or a bone, perhaps curling its lip or snarling occasionally. It enjoys freeform pastimes such as watching TV or sniffing about off lead most of all."
Kona came out as a Dreamer as well for the first test, and on the second came out very close to the edge of 4 different squares, but was placed in Amiable Analytical. Personally i think he'd fit better in Analytical Amiable, but very entertaining!
Meh, I wasn't impressed with the Pet Connect survey (Ponta also scored as an "adventurer," but the description given for that category doesn't fit too well). I find these kinds of "A or B" surveys shaky to begin with, but even less meaningful when, as with this one, the questions are often unclear, and the dog could fit into more than one (or neither!) category depending on the context. That they're selling something to survey takers makes me even more suspicious, especially when a commercial outfit puts up materials like this with spelling errors.
The survey Saku forwarded seemed a bit more sound; Ponta scored an "Amiable Amiable" on that one, and the description given by Saku matches Ponta very well. Of course, any test like this will be colored through the owners' subjective views, and essentially is feeding back exactly the information given, in many cases the results being invariably positive. (I don't think these things come back saying, "Your dog is liable to bite people and should be locked up" or "Your dog is surly and unlikable!")
Sakura was an adventurer, but I don't think it acurrately reflects her personality. Sakura can be either really destructive, noisy, hyperactive demon or 'lazy', quiet and enjoying to find the perfect spot to strech or strange position to lie in.
