Not sure if there is already a thread on this, had a look but didnt see anything. Ok so ive come down with a heavy cold and my voice hasbasically turned all scratchy and husky and manly (uughg) and the puppies are acting like they dont know me :-( last night takeo jumped up on my lap on the couch (which he never does as he usually is trying to play 24/7) and backed himself up so he was standing over my lap.then he looked up at me and the next thing i know is he is peeing on me!!! I ran him outside so he could finish and i swear if he could laugh he would be doing so! Then this morning my voice is like 80% gone (im sure the bf is happy!) And koyuki who is normally always cuddling me and all over me with kisses and love and will jump in my arms to be picked up is acting like shes never seen me before! Shes skitting away from me and barking at me and when i picked her up she was outraged! Its weird as its not like they are really voice command driven, they usually respond to my body language and hand signals etc. Im so sad! Has this happened to anyone else? Its bad enough being sick but to have my babies snob me off is breaking my heart lol

Sorry to hear that! I got a terrible sore throat about a week ago and couldn't use my happy voice with Apollo, which kind of confused him when I tried to guide him through our daily routine and during general playtime. The behavior does sound rather strange and I'm not completely sure what can be done at the moment, since you'd think they'd recognize your scent at least. Maybe your pups are picking up on your stress and low energy levels due to being sick. Hopefully you start feeling better soon and things will go back to normal.
The last dog a Husky “Shaabi” (RIP) use to do that when someone really sick came by. I think she sensed weakness. Wolfs are known to pick on or attack the week one in the pack. They are just puppies, it'll take some time. Hope you get well soon.
kenshin becomes very clingy when I'm sick. He spends the whole time with me, and if I'm doing really bad will get my mom for me. I don't think voice will play a big role in this, at least not in any of my experiences with dogs. How old are your pups now? They may be getting comfortable enough to begin to express their personalities. That or their devilish stage, which I'm leaning more towards. Plus shibas are talkative and it may sound pretty loud, especially when they are puppies. Kenshin was quiet for the first few weeks, then he found his voice, and since I've had a chatterbox. whines to get my attention and "angry" barking when I'm not moving fast enough. I swear anyone live with a shiba long enough and they realize how emotional a dog can get. Its really hard not to anthropomorphize them.
They are 12 weeks old now, but have been very loud since they first came here. I think they were just picking up on me being sorry for myself. They are fine this afternoon, both came up on my lap and cuddled into me,i think they are just being very cheeky!

I don't really get sick, and when I do I don't usually act it, so I can't say if my dogs are different when that happens. I do know that the big dogs followed Mom around and went upstairs when she was sick (they aren't allowed up there) and laid by her bed at night.
Ando has similar moments like that. Sometimes when my roommate comes home in a hooded sweatshirt or even walks up to Ando when it's dark, he acts like he doesn't know him and barks and growls at him (My roommate is one of his favorite people normally). He has to literally take off the sweatshirt and show him it's him to get him to calm down.
