Shiba Inu Puppy Food Help
  • I haven't found a lot of information of good puppy food for Shiba Inu. I picked up some Grain Free Wellness Core, but I'm looking for something in the future that will be more bang for my buck. I bought a 15lb bag for $35. Is there anything else I could get that less than $50 for more than 30lbs that's good quality food?

For grain free, best bang for your buck... I think nothing beats Taste of the Wild. $47 for 30lb bag.

Check out: http://www.wag.com/buy?s=taste of the wild&SubCatalog=dog

Otherwise, if you have a feed store nearby, they generally sell in large quantities for cheaper. Others will have more experience with this :]

I've heard the Chicken Soup lines are a good quality for a reasonable price. My mom's Boxer seems to like it.

    Welcome to the forum!

I get Taste of the Wild for $40 per 30 pound bag for my two 50 pound dogs.

Just to throw in a word of caution, be careful with grain free foods with a young puppy. There is some debate as to their appropriateness, not due to the lack of grain, but because of the high concentration of protien. It has been linked to kidney problems, many people experience no real problem, but it does seem common to see loose stools, and bad gas with puppies on that sort of diet. Also keep in mind wellness says for dogs over a year, they themselves do not suggest it for puppies.
  • Again, with the high protein it can also lead to bowel problems. Mango had some issues when I was feeding him Orijen.
