Beef lung

Anyone have any experience turning beef lung into dog treats? I can't find any recipes online - just ads for lung-based dog treats

I'm thinking of doing what I do with pig liver: boil until cooked, then dice and bake at like 200F for a couple hours until it's pretty much dried out. But there may be something else to do with it?

Erm, stick it in a blender and make a doggy smoothie? I have no idea. I'd probably just do what you've got up there or dehydrate it plain in the oven.

Saya loves dehydrated liver I buy them before I started raw, but eventually might try to dehydrate liver and heart myself..

Saya loves beef lung only fed it raw, but I know of people who have dehydrated the lung for treats..

    No advice sorry.

I think some do it in oven with no issue just be sure to keep an eye on it.

I plan to get a dehydrator eventually I might try oven option though.

Got my Nesco dehydrator on Amazon for $33. My guys love the treats I make. Only drawback is the length of time it takes.

I went the boil/dice/bake route. It worked pretty well except lung is hard to boil (it floats!), and takes a lot longer to dry out in the oven than liver does.

But I've got enough treats for a few months now for the low low price of $3 or $4.

I got beef lung at a local Chinese supermarket, where they have all sorts of things I could never find elsewhere - pancreas, lung, a big vat full of dripping pig livers. Once you get past the revulsion at some of this stuff, it's a cheap place to find ingredients for dog treats.

One beef lung and two pig livers were a little over $5, and should last a month or two of liberal treating.

Howdy, Stranger!
