For the past few days I have been home sick with a bad cold stuck on the couch. Tosh has laid by my side the whole time. Hes usually not a cuddly dog but the past few days when I grabbed him he would stay in my arms for hours. Comforting me by just having someone by my side. Every day I feed and water him, take him for walks and care for his every need. Not once have I ever expected anything in return other than his friendship. He has always been my little buddy. It's funny how that he may not be able to say thanks or I love you but what he did for me the past few days lets me know he loves me very much . I have been reading the form for quite some time reading about all the little quirks and habits our Shibas have. Some happy stories and some sad stories but was wondering of stories of how other Shibas showed their love ???
Its my fortune to have two Shiba's that love to cuddle. Many times they both do it at the same time in a group hug with all our heads next to each other.
Hammond will sometimes stare me down, then wiggle his tail just a little bit before leaping to lick/bite my face while doing his excited "arooroo/burrr" noise. That last part is kind of annoying but still cute.
Or at night if I lay on the couch to watch tv, even though it's 1-2 hours before his bed time, he'll curl up next to my legs, using my leg as a pillow, and go to sleep. Otherwise he's not very cuddly yet.
I'm convinced Yuki gives me 'hugs' sometimes. Sometimes when I pick her up or sit on the floor she will walk over to me and put her head next to my neck with her chin resting on my shoulder, like someone is hugging you with no arms. She's probably smelling my hair but I hug her back anyway! lol
Yuki also likes to snuggle at night so going to bed is my favorite time of day. Throughout the night she snuggles up to me and lays her head on my leg, arm, stomach, neck and sometimes my forehead. She also likes to share my pillow with me!
Bootz prefers not to be in the bed because it gets a little hot cause of her coat. Also, I use 2-3 blankets.
Jackie, my pom mix showed me a lot of love. While I was sleeping one day similar to the picture above, she came into my bed put her head on my shoulder, and the rest of her body on my arm and just fell asleep. When I woke up I was pretty surprised to find her there, but my heart melted. It was just TOO cute.
@tkfush - that is so adorable! The rest were really cute too! My 13 week old Fira doesn't really like to cuddle at all as she's got way too much energy to want to do anything but run around, play with toys, and torment the cat.
When Zach is tired he LOVES to cuddle...if I'm sitting on the couch he will put his front paws on the couch and just stare at me until I pick him up (he can't quite make it up on his own yet) then he will crawl in my lap and cuddle. If I'm on the floor with him he snuggles up to me or sits in my lap and falls asleep! There is nothing like a cuddly sleep puppy!
I love those pictures and I am jealous! My boy can't stand too much affection, he will try to escape. Mina only likes to be pat. The closest thing to cuddle is both my shibas like to squeeze their butts on me when I am sitting on the floor to get me rub their back and massage them. If that's how my show affection, see how lucy you are!
Haha I'm starting to wonder if girls are more affectionate than boys? Apollo shows me his love by mouthing my arms ):
Recently though, he's taken a liking to belly rubs. He'll also crawl into your lap if he's sleepy, but then decides his bed is more comfortable and walks away. And if he's calm, he doesn't mind cuddling much. From what I hear they become more tolerant as they age. Apollo's still a pup, so I can't expect too much from him I guess lol.
My puppy has taken to nudging my hands when she wants a pat or rubdown, so much so that I have to hide my hands sometimes if I'm too busy to pet her. She also sleeps with me most of the night, when I first brought her home she slept above my head but now she sleeps by my stomach. Sometimes she sleeps on the couch in my room and wakes me up by jumping on me or pawing at my arms so I will get up and feed her. (We're both late sleepers, waking up around 10am). During the day she likes to try to climb onto my lap while I'm doing schoolwork at my computer, but she only stays there if I'm petting her, otherwise she gives up and goes to find something else to do.
This weekend made me think of this thread. So, I went into the ER Saturday with a kidney stone and when I got home, I basically spent the whole time blissfully doped up and asleep in my bedroom. Zim spent nearly the whole time I was home sleeping on the landing outside the bedroom waiting for me and showered me with tons of love as soon as he saw me. He then promptly curled up on my lap with my hand held gently in his mouth. As of Sunday we've had him for 3 weeks. How's that for Shiba love?
He'll lay her head like that when I kneel down or lay down it's so cute! I give her messages while she hugs me if I stop she'll look at me then place her head back on me. lol
I have a cold that makes the plague look like a better option and yesterday, Sakura who loves to destroy things and pee on our bed (working on that, but she isn't allowed in the bedroom unless it is bedtime). I fell asleep on the bed and left the door open, there were also alot of things on the ground she would have loved to destroy. However, when I woke up, not only was nothing destroyed, but she was curled up on the bed with me.
i dunno but when i'm sad and sleeping it off, my ninja is always just sleeping close to me, almost cuddling... and he usually doesn't. also, i love when i'm doing something and he tries to get my hand to pet him. :)
