• My babies will be 4 weeks on Thursday and I can kind of see a hint of tail curling but I'm wondering at what age will the tail finish curling?

I'd love to know as well!

Are there different degrees of curling? I notice some curl into the back of some shiba, and imprint their hair down while others curl but stay high.

It can take several months or longer for the adult tail type to firm up. While the long bones are growing, sometimes the ears may take a bit to perk up, and the tail may still be pretty loose, but once the long bones growth slows after the rapid growth of the first 4-5 months, the tail will usually get tighter (if not earlier) and you would be able to tell if it will be a loose or open curl, or tight like a cinnamin bun. You may have to wait until they are 3 months old before you have a better idea. They will most likely be similar to the parents. It's funny, but tail shape can really change during the life of the dog, and many seniors seem to end up with more relaxed tails.

@lindsayt How long do ears usually take to perk up? Hammond is just over 10 weeks now, and while they're slowly getting a bit more perky (from the bottom) the tops are still really soft and flopped over. When I picked him up on the 15th, his sister's ears were already up.

Is there something I am doing/not doing that's causing the delay, or is he just being a slowpoke?

As I mentioned, sometimes it can take more than 4 or 5 months depending on the growth of the puppy. You can give tums as the calcium sometimes help.

I've read tums helps, but I think they'd go up without it..
