  • Our Kira is now 1 year and 2 months, and she still seems very anxious whenever we take her out for walks. She does fine when no one is around, but when kids ride by on their bikes or scooters, she will spin around SUPER fast! There have been times she's done this until she threw up or even poo's. She seems to do fine with adults walking or jogging by. I tried giving her a treat whenever children are around, but she is so nervous she totally ignores the treat. Her anxiety with other children doesn't make sense to us since we have a 5 year old and 13 year old at home she plays with all the time. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, how old until a shiba is considered an "adult"? I ask because she pees at least every 2 hours. I thought she would be able to hold her pee longer by now. Thanks!

  • She probably should be able to hold her pee longer by now. A vet visit to check for UTI is probably in order as far as that goes.

As far as the kids go, I bet it's the fact that they're moving fast, not that they're kids. I have no idea what one would do about it though. Hopefully somone else will be able to help you out with that.http://obeytheshiba.blogspot.com/

  • Thanks for the advice, but we've taken her to the vet and she does not have a UTI. The vet is not sure why Kira pees so frequently, and we are wondering if we conditioned her this way by taking her out to pee every 2 hours? She will pee in the house if we don't keep an eye on her or take her out on time, so we don't believe its anxiety in the house....only when we go outside. I just bought a clicker and will try that kind of training. I hope this works. Thanks again.
