So either this Thursday or Sunday my father and I will be taking a short 40 minute drive to Aspers, PA and visit Rodel's. I am super excited and wanted to share my excitement with everyone. Despite the fact that they only have a really small number of litters hopefully they will have one by the time my father and I are ready and able (between this late winter through late spring). Despite the fact that we would probably have to wait til next litter or whatever the case may be I am positive the wait will be well worth it =). I hope I develop a strong connection with the breeder...I will make my decision based off how well the breeders and I connected, that has to be one of the best ways to choose a breeder right guys?

thanks for the support guys I will be updating for further info. So excited btw does anyone know a good site where I can get japanese names and meanings? i tried google but lets just say its not that effective lol I will most likely stick to the name kitsune since i rarely see anyone name their dog "Kitsune" too many people decide to name a japanese breed Sumo, Maya, Tiki, Yoshi or sushi LOL

That is so awesome that you are only 40 minutes away from Rodel!

As for choosing a breeder based on connection, you definitely want to make sure that you and your breeder get along and are on the same wavelength. However, you also want to be aware of the other things that have been mentioned in previous threads. Rodel is an excellent breeder, so I doubt you have much to worry with on their ability to produce top notch pups. But if you are looking at other breeders, remember the advice you have been given. And while a good connection with your breeder is very important, you should definitely not base your decision solely on that.

But needless to say... Have fun while you are there. They have some gorgeous dogs who I have heard are very well mannered and fun to be around. And before you guys go, make sure to write down a list of all your questions. Trust me, you will get overwhelmed with the cuteness and forget everything you wanted to ask! :)

We have three dogs and their names are Kitsune (Fox) female, Kuma (Bear) male and Hoshi (star). If you google "Japanese dog names" you should get several sites to choose from.

There are tons of Japanese name websites out there. I spent a lot of time browsing as many as I could find in my search for a good name. If I see an especially good website I'll give you the link too. Kitsune is a cute name though. Its not as common as others are. Just remember, you want to choose a name you won't mind saying over and over again. :P I try saying the name aloud several times and use it in a sentence before I decide if I really like it.

Your Cooper looks exactly like a grown up version of our baby boy, who is almost 14 weeks old now :) Beautiful Shiba's!

Beautiful shibas! I believe Cooper is Moe's littermate, which is the sire of my pup. That litter has beautiful B&Ts

Alyssa- if you go to photobucket.com, sign up and upload your pics on there, you can then copy the link to the uploaded photo (there are a few different types of links to choose from, but both [img] and "direct link" work on here) and paste it in the message box here. It'll show up from there, after you submit the message. Hope that helps! There's a more detailed description on how to do this somewhere in this forum as well. In the "help" section I think.

so this sunday at 8pm we will be trying to visit Rodel because my father umpires in the morning and ref's basketball games (its his weekend thing) before I ask Sandie herself does anyone here who purchased from them or even took a trip to visit them know if they allow people to visit her and her shibas at 8 or a little after?

Moe and cooper are litter mates from riverwind shibas Their breeder had a terrible accident and i actually raised them from 5 weeks until 10 weeks of age. We kept moe and the rest of the litter was placed by rodel shibas for riverwind shibas.
  • o wow i cant believe im seeing this comment now and no post warning or notification -__- im so sorry for the late over due response
