There is one in Wisconsin (Hi Jinx) and one in Illinois (J-Ann) that I know of. I couldn't get in contact with them so I ended up going with Glenchester Kennels in Ohio.
There is Godaikoso Shibas in Illinois. They have a website if you want to check them out and I've heard they're pretty good too. I think they have an upcoming litter, though you would have to talk to them first.
Even though I've said I want to rescue, I haven't ruled out the possibility of a breeder. I really just want our pup in a certain time frame, and this thread has been super helpful. It's very hard to find reputable breeders.
I've been in contact with all who've been mentioned here. Thanks again everyone!
I see that this was a year ago, but me and my fiance are possibly looking to get another shiba and wanted more information on Godaikoso, I went on her website but don't see any information on how to contact them. I live in Glendale Heights & I heard she is in Shaumburg
casspozoz07 - Have you thought of rescuing from SIRA. They are located in the Chicago suburbs and have a website: http://www.savingshibas.com. We have gotten two of our shibas from them. They currently have five dogs on their site, but they are expecting more.
Yes I have looked at Sira even have them on Facebook and was thinking about adopting but the home I'm living in is my fiance's dads home, we are in school saving money before going out and renting, and I read we would all need to be there but his dad is like a private man. So I will have to talk to him about it.
Hi-Jinx is located in Wisconsin, and they are a very well known, respected breeder. :) I don't own a shiba, but I have spoken to her through email and I thought she was great.
casspozos07 - Hi-jinx website is: http://www.hi-jinxshiba.com/Hi-Jinx_Shiba_Inu/Home.html. We have met Pat once or twice and her shibas are nice. She is located in Black Earth,WI and her next litter is planned for spring of 2012. She does have some older Shibas for sale. Good luck.
I met Pat Doescher and I think she is a good breeder her shiba she had at the Madison WI meet up looked very healthy walked normal and very bright and active.
If I were to get a second shiba from a breeder it'd be from her. Pam is a good breeder too.
We got our pup from Hi-Jinx Pam and Pat. They are very nice. I visited Pam's home in WI and met all her dogs, pups and daughter. They are all very nice.
@BuckyBadger We got our pup from Pam the end of November. We got Lilly (renamed Yuki) Who did you adopt?? We got to meet all the pups and it was hard not to just grab them all and run for it!!!!
@ tkfush, Our Mika...AKA Jasmine was in a litter before that..We got Mika 22 Oct. Pam brought the litter down to Pat in Black Earth. They have followed up a few time since then too. Very pleased
