Signs of possessive behavior?
I was curious to know if this is some signs my puppy is becoming possessive. Normally he's relaxed little guy, but I've notice he gets vocal at my other dog if my older dog has something the puppy wants to chew on. He will start barking at her until my older dogs gets annoyed and walks away.
I also notice that when my older dog goes near the puppy's food dish he will sometimes go over to his dish and check out it out.
When the puppy is eating from his food dish he is fine. My older dog can be nearby and he seems to have no reaction yet.
I just worry if he might be becoming possessive or not.
I'd work on teaching them to respect each other's space and boundaries even before any sign of sibling rivalry shows itself. It's easier to teach a good habit than break a bad one.
of course it's not that simple, and sometimes dogs just can't get along. But doesn't hurt to strive for the best outcome. I'm no expert in multi dog households, but I'm sure there are many existing threads with great info to look into!
