Has anyone heard that the military banned shiba inus from on-post housing? My brother told me about it but I can't find anything on the internet about it. Just curious if he misread or this really happened.

I certainly hope not. That's just silly.

Unless your brother mistook Shiba Inus for Akitas or someone from the military mistook a Shiba for a wolf-hybrid, Shibas should be allowed.

I found this article looks like some bases may ban Shiba Inus. http://dogsondeployment.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
(paragraph above "Here's some keen thoughts for policy change:")
Looks like it is up to the individual bases.
  • We were stationed at 29 palms and me along with two other families had shibas and I never heard of this. I know wolf hybrids and pitbulls were restricted but geez....adorable, sweet, fluffy shibas?
