Katsumi's been bugging me to start a SPAM thread of her. She's so conceited, she's got this idea in her head that she's the cutest dog on the island. Such a silly Shiba! I apologize in advance for so many pictures. She made me do it!
This is from the first day Katsumi came home with us.
This picture is when Katsumi realized she was actually a Supermodel reincarnated.
Will you chat with me?
She's a Mac Puppy!
Katsumi can't decide between the Takamine and Ovation...
Katsumi visits her friends
Fine, Fresh, Fierce, Katsumi's got this on lock!
"I'm the cutest dog in the world? Oh stop!! And by stop, I mean keep going!!"
Katsumi Firefox ponders the long road ahead...
"These are my irresistible puppy dog eyes...they're saying drive to another pet store and buy me more treats!"
"This hat does NOTHING for my skin tone!"
Katsumi after another unsuccessful swim in the Dog Park Pond
And of course...as seen in her Introduction thread...the best picture EVER of Katsumi Firefox!
Katsumi asked that I post her latest video with her bff, Miki. Miki is a Cream Shiba Inu, they are about the same age, and Miki is actually the very first Shiba Inu Katsumi ever met! They've been best friends ever since, even at our Shiba Inu Meet Ups, they prefer to play with each other instead of the others!
Anyway, enjoy! This video is called "Two Shiba Inu Best Friends," but it could be alternatively titled, "How a Cream Shiba Inu turns into a Brown Shiba Inu" or, "How many times can Katsumi Firefox bite Miki's tail in one minute?" (Miki does have a pretty tempting looking tail).
*EDIT* Ok I have no idea why the embed code is not working...please click here!
hehe thanks! I had a lot of fun making it. :-) I sure hope that she stays social as she gets older.
@Snf - the Guitar shop picture is actually at Chris's store--he gets to bring Katsumi to work whenever he wants! I've got one of her in the drum room too, but it's not as good. I'll have to stop by again one day and take some more pictures, maybe some of her on the store's stage this time, hehehe!Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
Such a beautiful girl, she looks like she's got such a plush and soft coat! Love the Mac pillows, I see you linked the site, I'll have to check that out! Love the video too, so cute. Glad she found a fellow Shiba friend! I hope to see more. :)Lauren- The Girl | Emi- The Shiba
Katsumi Firefox had her very first photoshoot this past weekend! Our local Humane Society was having a fundraiser: a professional photography shoot for your pet, and the proceeds go towards all the good work that they do! I thought I'd share the lovely pictures that came out: Click here, and scroll down to IMG_6713 to see her pictures! We can only pick one...any thoughts on which one is the best? :-)Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
wow hard to choose as I like a lot of them!! I'm thinking I like #6734 but I went back and forth between that one and #6774. I'd be buying more than one I'm afraid! Good luck!! Let us know which one you choose! Kathy
We like 6734 too...we call it her "Senior Portrait," hahaha! 6774 wasn't one of our original favorites, but seems like everyone likes it (it was my Mom's pick too), so it's growing on us. Oh what to do, what to do! I wish we could get all of them, but a CD of all the images is $200. Not sure if we want to pay that much...I'm considering buying a new white sheet today, and doing a photoshoot just to see what kind of pictures I can get out of her on my own!
Thanks everyone for your feedback! Of course now that Katsumi has had a taste of the Professional Modeling world, she's even MORE convinced that she's the cutest dog on the island! Unfortunately, I told her that her title has been taken over by one of our Shiba Inu Hawaii friends who got a new puppy...check this picture out:
I love puppies! they are just too cute! Katsumi is so silly! lol, love that pic! as for the professional pictures, I wouldn't know which to choose! They are all so amazing!Julie (human) loved by Mika (shiba) - Mika's Blog
well thank you, but before I go accepting any more compliments for this last picture I should probably clarify...neither of those dogs are Katsumi, hahaha...they are her friends from our Shiba Inu Hawaii website. The older one is named Meeko, and she is 1 year old. The puppy is named Taiko. We haven't yet met Taiko in person yet, as he is too young, but we will soon!!Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
I like both 6734 and 6774, and they seem to reflect very different sides of her personality. Whichever one you think brings out more of her "true" self... or go with both if you can!Bowdu 寶肚 (shiba) and Bowpi 寶媲 (basenji) at the House of Two Bows
thank you everyone! We still don't know which one to pick, but it will probably be 6734! We're going to put her "Senior portrait" next to our "Senior portraits," it'll probably be pretty hilarious!
@PupChow no we didn't, we went through a whole bunch of Japanese names after we got her, and that was the one that fit! :-)Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
My little Katsumi Firefox, she's an absolute nutcase! We had just finished a post on our website about all the weird things we noticed she does (and discovered that she's not all THAT weird, she's just a Shiba Inu)...and she went ahead and did ANOTHER thing, I just had to share. The other day, we caught her "swimming," meaning paddling with her feet...with no water! Does anyone else's Shiba do this? She is such a crazy little thing!!
The video is super cute, but I can't help but feel bad for Katsumi too. It's one of those it's seems so mean but it's so cute you have to do it. I know you said she's starting to like the water so its not mean. I can't help it, I love it!
We took Katsumi Firefox to get her Avid microchip, it was scanned and verified and all was good in the world. Two days later, we took her in again for an unexpected appointment (she was limping, but not to worry, she’s fine!). They did a routine scan…no microchip! They even tried with a larger scanner…still no microchip! She had to get a new one inserted.
I saw a thread on this topic on the forum, so I know this isn't completely unheard of. I'm going to make sure they scan her microchip every time we go in now!
I of course, took pictures of the whole experience...here goes!
Waiting at the vet's office...this is her "Deer in the headlights look." I think she knows what's coming!
"Oh please, PLEASE, save me, I don't like this!!"
Getting her temperature taken...more torture!
After the microchip, about to the leave the office...she looks so happy-go-lucky, like they actually injected drugs instead! Or maybe it's just sheer relief that we're leaving.Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
Ah, Katsumi is such a beautiful girl! I can't get enough of her. Absolutely love the pictures! Wow, I've never heard of a dog 'losing' their microchip. You said it's happened before, very interesting.Lauren- The Girl | Emi- The Shiba
thanks, but we can't take any credit for her coat...it's all natural! We don't put anything on it, she's not on a special diet...must be the healthy Hawaiian sun? No idea. Her coat does seem to feel way softer than any of her Shiba friends here as well. I am worried that she'll lose it all once she blows her coat for the first time...Better go take some more pictures! ;-)
I just found out her breeder uses fish oil for her dogs, so we might start that soon.Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
I actually just started Emi (and I) on salmon oil capsules, about a month ago. I've seen a real improvement in her coat. She had just shed all of her puppy fuzz and her adult coat was feeling pretty coarse. It's now soft and supple. I don't know if it's because her coat's had time to fill in but I'm going to go ahead and say that it's from the salmon oil. I would recommend it.Lauren- The Girl | Emi- The Shiba
Niki, I read the thread you linked and have been having second thoughts about the AVID chip. I wonder if they have fixed it at all so it stops moving. Most of the places around my area uses AVID, there are some that offer homeagain. I wonder if they have now upgraded systems to read both microchips when a pup is lost/found.Julie (human) loved by Mika (shiba) - Mika's Blog
I'm not really sure about where these companies are at in updating their technology...we weren't really given a choice about what company we could pick, which leads me to believe that maybe Hawaii only uses AVID. It's probably a question for your vet, or maybe other Shibas in your area? Sorry I couldn't be more help.Niki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
Hi everyone! I just have to share...I'm so excited...Katsumi Firefox and her bff Miki are on Peoplepets.com as one of this week's Cutest Pets on Twitter!!!
oh yes, her head is definitely getting bigger. Katsumi "Diva Dog" Firefox! Thanks for sharing our excitement with us!! :-DNiki, Chris & Katsumi Firefox -- http://shibainuhawaii.com
