So today i rescued my second dog today....I went to work expecting to work my normal eight hour day, but then Dugan( Gaelic for "Dark Lad") was found, in and vacant lot, and of course no one knows who he belongs to, or where he has came from.
I'm sick and tired of people treat animals like this, this is my second rescue in less then 6 months....what are people thinking when they do this?
This dog is amazing, he is the sweetest dog ever. After I feed him got him water, all he wanted to do was play. He loves his leash, and loves to go for walks. This dog at one time was someone's pet, he knows commands, and loves people, but then they let this happen to him.....
Whoever decided to treat this dog like crap, sure did for sure. There did a horrible job cropping his ears, i'm so happy that i have friends that could help me out, and it just so happens that the rescue who was able to help me today, the guy in charge of it is an animal cop.....
He has been to the vet, he has been sedated, will be staying there for a few days, they are taking blood, running test, getting some antibiotics, as well as he will be getting much needed fluids...
Again, thank you for taking the time to do something for Dugan.Jessica “Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace.”-Milan Kundera
God Bless YOU for rescuing Dugan, and GOD DAMN the animal who did this to this poor dog. It's absolutely horrifying that anyone could be capable of leaving this poor pitbull to starve.
i'm really hoping that the guy in charge of the rescue really does find the owner of this dog.... and makes him pay....he is a wonderful dog....he will be coming to my house to stay for a few days to the permant foster home is ready...they have a rescue right now that is getting adopted on Sunday. They will be taking him Tuesday after work. He will have no contact with my two shibas for their protection and his of course. I believe Dugan was used as a bate dog for dog fighting.
After i took Dugan to the vets, i came home hugged, cried and loved my Niko since he is from a abusive past and is also a rescue....then i hugged both of them and they looked at me like i was a crazy women hahaI'm loved by Niko and Guinness my beautiful black and tan Shiba Inu's
I agree he might have been used for something in dog fighting. There are so many scars on his face. This is why the breed has gotten a bad name. Because jerks get them for fighting (like they think that's macho and cool). These idiots train them to be mean and aggressive and have a killer instinct. If they aren't fighters, not mean enough, they are set free to starve and fend for themselves. Possibly even killed at times. Who knows where Dugan wandered from and how far his travels took him before he ended up being found by you.
Who knows where he came from, but he's in good hands now....i'm so happy my friends could help, and hooked me up with the right people. I will keep everyone updated on him.
I agree some people just don't understand the breed, i'm lucky to enough to have been involved with rescues to under stand the breed and learned alot about them, i used to be afraid of them at one time, because of the bad rap they have been given. In the area he was found, people don't have dogs to be part of the family they use the dogs mainly pitts as status symbols!!!!!I'm loved by Niko and Guinness my beautiful black and tan Shiba Inu's
There are alot of people here where I live as well...teens, 20's, 30's who also get Pitbulls just for fighting and status symbols. It makes them think they are TOUGH if they have a tough, mean dog. And if that dog can fight and kick #ss, even better.
Those pics of him made me start crying. I don't know what to say...I'm a blubbering mess right now. I hope he gets better, and God bless you for helping him.Tara surviving in the burbs with Koda & Maymay (Kai Ken)
tjbart17 I am right there with you crying as I was looking at the pics and reading. Thank you "I Lovemy2shibas" for rescuing this poor dog and hopefully saving his life. Someone was watching out for this little dog to send him your way. Thank You
Stefanie, Thank you SO much for rescuing this little guy. I am sure he is more grateful that you can imagine.
And it is such a shame that ANY creature should have to go through such torture. I hope the person responsible is found and is prosecuted to the fullest extent. Good luck to Dugan and I hope that he is able to find a loving and safe forever home soon.Casey with Bella (shiba) and Nola (shiba) hanging out in the mountains of Virginia.
My jaw literally dropped when I saw the pictures. Good on you for taking care of him, he looks like he wouldn't have lasted very long on his own or wherever he came from. Keep us updated!
wow, god bless you for caring for an animal who needed it.Joe & Dawn ruled by our shibas *Katsu* and *Tanuki*. Check out Katsu's Blog, It's a Porkchop Life
Thank you for helping Dugan. I clicked on the link for the Phoenix Rescue group to try and make a donation, but the PayPal link seems to be down. Can you communicate this to the rescue? I'm sure they'd like to know.
